Help Me Save You (2021)

Help me save you

Created during Lizzie’s Masters, this work began with the process of word mapping as a grounding tool, which led to specific pieces of literature and poems which related to these maps and writing reflexively in response to the texts, in particular, Sylvia Plath’s poem Mirror, and the artist likened the female in the poem with the character of Ophelia from Hamlet. Using themes of safety and mental health, Help Me Save You is a 5 min video which imagines the tragic character of Ophelia as having a lifejacket and saving herself.
